Arvind Foundation is a charitable organization for special needs children (children with cerebral palsy, Autism, ADHD, ADD, Down's syndrome, muscular dystrophy, mental retardation, epilepsy, hydrocephalus, microcephalus, spina bifida, chromosomal disorder, neurological disorder, dyslexia).
Inspired by their son Arvind who is blessed to be a Cerebral Palsy child, Arvind Foundation was started by his parents in 2004 with the aim to help special needs children and their parents from underprivileged backgrounds. We help such children & young adults with special needs by providing Early Intervention, Special Education, Curative Educative Therapies, Vocational Training, Livelihood and Employment Opportunities . We take care of their nutritional requirements & Transportation. Our mission is to enable children, young adults, and adults with special needs to become as independent as possible. From a humble beginning with 2 special needs children in 2004 , today we serve about 140 such children and young adults through our 5 centers in and around Chennai.
We have recently initiated a livelihood program for our special needs young adults where we market and sell the products made by them as part of their training. Our students make close to 40 products. They are given stipend for their efforts as part of this program.
