Vision Statement: A Cultured and Liberal India
Mission Statement: Empower girls through Value-Based Education, Life Coaching, and Skill Development
Initiatives & Impact: Over the past 30 years, the foundation has positively impacted more than 150,000 lives, directly benefiting around 40,000 individuals in the areas of Girls’ Education, Women’s Empowerment, Gender Equality, and Art & Culture.
KOSHISH (Effort): We have successfully isolated the children from the negative influence of the surrounding and provided shield from drug peddlers, traffickers and criminals. We have succeeded in mainstreaming the slum children in the vicinity, from meagre 5% in 2001 to almost 100% in 2010. School drop outs have reduced with better academic results. Many of them have started scoring more than 80% with limited infrastructure and facilities. We also highlight environmental issues as part of our program. There is visible and remarkable impact on behavioural changes of the children. They have become less aggressive and more positive towards life.
NAARI SHAKTI (Girl Power): When a girl’s education is cut short, she becomes far more vulnerable to the threats of early marriage and abandonment, early pregnancy, domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking, etc. To protect uneducated girls from these threats, we conduct self-defence and gender sensitisation workshops. We skill them at our vocational training centres and also support them financially for their upskilling at specialised institutions. About 5000 women, who have gone through these training programs, have been able to gain employment and support themselves.
VIRASAT (Heritage): Besides doing regular workshops and events at slums, we also organize cultural events in prominent auditoriums which has generated interest of the youth in our culture. We use this medium to showcase our efforts and motivate people to support the underprivileged children. You may watch some of our events on the YouTube (click here).
