Sona Sarovar Trust was registered on 21st May 2007 under The Charitable Trust Act with an aim to support the underprivileged sections of our society. The journey began with Miss Ranjana Kamble, a 22-year-old girl incapacitated by polio, daughter of a part-time maid. The journey continued with many projects on rural rehabilitation that were undertaken. Projects on water, sanitation, solar energy, child education, organic farming as well as income generation activities were zealously undertaken.

In the process, we realized that the main cause of the problem was illiteracy. We wanted to work on education so we decided to focus on this impending need and adopted a slum area in Jogeshwari West, Mumbai. We work for people in slum areas, mainly children and run Nursery classes for them so that they get admission in good school. We impart moral values and provide tuition classes up to 10th standard so that they don't fail and drop out. We provide healthy food to undernourished children to improve their health and also help children from remand homes to appear for their board exams, study further and get better work.

We visualize an India where every citizen has a concrete roof and enough space to live, clean and green surroundings, where every child/individual is given sufficient opportunity and scope for education, where employment opportunities are waiting to use their talents to the fullest possible, where health care is available easily and at an affordable cost, where every citizen is respected and has the right to be happy.
