Social Welfare and Rural Development Society(Ghatal) i.e. SWRDS is fully devoted to the upliftment of the rural poor backward and illiterate people of Ghatal sub-division under West Medinipur district of West Bengal since the inception of the society in the year 1985. It is a flood prone agricultural area and most of the people are landless, illiterate and poor dependant on daily earnings. Poverty made their life unhygienic and miserable. To remove this illiteracy and poverty through sustainable development the Society emphasizes on education, health and income generation programmes keeping an eye to have a better social and economic life.
The organization undertakes the following activities:
1. Maintaining an Old Age Home
2. Maintaining a Day-Care Centre for aged people serving Mid-Day-Meal
3. Maintaining Creche Centre
